The Five Types of Batik Bali and its Meaning

It is not a secret that Batik is Indonesian heritage that is well known not only for Indonesian but also for foreigners. Even until now batik is still a popular choice to be worn in some events whether it is formal or casual. Even though the most popular batik is from Javanese, but Balinese also has a unique and exclusive batik that is known as Balinese batik or Batik Bali. In order to know and understand further about Balinese batik, here are the 5 types of Batik Bali and its meaning. 

Batik Bali UlamSari Mas 

The first types of Batik Bali is Ulam Sari Mas. This type of batik is the most popular Batik Bali. This batik is exclusively depicted shrimp and fish as Balinese livelihood, especially for Balinese that have occupation as a fisher. Furthermore, Batik Bali Ulam Sari mas symbolize the prosperity of Balinese people who live on the coast of Bali. 

Batik Bali Pisan/ Jagatan Pisang

The next type of Balinese batik is Batik Pisan or Jagatan Pisan. This type of batik is perfect for you guys who are in a romantic relationship. Why is that so? Because, this batik is often used as a gift for a lover who want to travel far. Balinese give this piece of batik to their lover with the hope that they will return to their arms safely one day. Even more than that, this batik also symbolize hope, prayer, love, and salvation. 

Batik Bali Buketan 

The third type of Batik Bali is Buketan. This batik is influenced by France culture. To prove that, this Batik is originated from the word ‘bouquet’ in which means a bouquet of flowers. As its names suggest this types of batik is depicted the flowers and sometimes there are birds and butterflies motif here too as an additional touch to over all design. 

Batik Bali Singa Barong 

The next type is Batik Bali Singa Barong. This one is the most unique motifs of Balinese batik. As the name suggest this batik is illustrated the mythological being that is called Barong in Bali. The Balinese believe this mythological being is truly exist. This Batik Bali Singo Barong symbolises strength, power, and wonder. 

Batik Bali Merak Abyorhokokai 

The last type of Batik Bali here is called Batik Bali Merak Abyorhokokai. This Balinese batik depict the beauty of Merak or in English is ‘peacock’. Even though this batik still promoting Balinese culture, but it could not be denied that this batik also inspired from Japanese culture too. Furthermore, apart from depicting the beauty of Merak, this batik also depicting the true beauty of Balinese culture.
