Batik Bali

Batik Bali is one of the batik variations that spread from Java. Making batik may new to the Island, but Bali has well potential for batik because people of Bali are very well-known for its high craftsmanship and artistic. Batik Bali history started around 1970, spearheaded by Pande Ketut Krisna from Banjar Tegeha, Batubulan village, Sukawati Gianyar in Bali. Pande Ketut Krisna, in the beginning, used the cap method with a little help from a manual loom tool.

At first, Bali people use batik Bali only for activities related to religious purposes and other traditional ceremonies. They tied batik Bali on their waist or in their head like a headband. In the Bali language, they are called by udeng.

Tourist attractions styles representing Bali’s nature, such as Cambodia flowers, Hibiscus flowers, fish, and birds. Culture style representing religious rituals such as ngaben. And finally, Mythology style, representing phantasm creatures, commonly such as barong, buta, and winged lion.

So freely, any batik Bali artists can also express what’s on their mind and heart to make their batik style rich in colors and motifs. This made batik Bali development are getting more popular and have a lot of fusion-variety.
