Things to Know – Distinguishing Between Hand-Writing Batik and Stamped Batik

As we know that Batik is traditional fabric which made with the wax-resist dyeing process. Actually, this fabric can be found in various countries, but Indonesia Batik may be the most popular one which has been referred by UNESCO as the Masterpiece and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Batik Class is different as well. The most traditional batik from Indonesia was known as the hand-writing or hand-drawn batik where the patterns were drawn or written by using the hot wax inside the traditional tool known as canting.

The whole process of making hand-drawn batik is pretty complicated and takes a lot of time as well. the more complex patterns and using more colors, then the process will be longer. Therefore, hand-drawn cloth is more expensive and highly hun by collectors from around the world. The less expensive batik is the stamped batik or known as batik cap also available in the market. People who just collecting them should be careful when choosing their batik fabrics since the stamped batik with high-quality fabrics will look like the hand-drawn ones.

The finished look

You should know that the finished look of the hand-written batik fabrics was more organic and just one of a kind – they are handmade for sure. The patterns in the printed fabrics may look like roughly cut or the colors may pass the pattern lines in their fabrics. So this difference is pretty visible and easy to find as long as you carefully watched.

Keep in mind that printed batik was not reversible since they only colored at one side. Therefore, the customers should be careful and avoid the scam by paying the hand-drawn price for the printed batik or stamped ones.
